A dynamic site is one that is flexible, expandable, and is typically easy to maintain once it is set up. The pages that are shown on the web are dynamically generated through a series of scripts and typically utilize a database of some type to house the site’s information.
While more complicated to set up initially, over the long run they are far easier to maintain since they usually have a web-based interface to add, delete, and alter content. This is great if you have content owners that need to update information themselves, but don’t have HTML knowledge. Also, if the site design requires a tweak or even a major overhaul, this is handled in one place rather than each individual page.
A dynamic site can be made from scratch by a programmer, but there are many ready-made “content management systems” (CMS) that are great right out of the box…so to speak. Some are even FREE like Joomla! and have a variety of add-ons available to suit just about any requirement that you might have.
